The Pahang government will continue to focus on environmental issues in the state to ensure that pollution from the logging and mining sectors do not continue to plague the people here.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob said the state government together with the relevant agencies like the Lands and Mines Office would continue to tackle pollution issues caused by the mining of iron and bauxite by ensuring that miners continue to abide by regulations set by the government.
"Various measures have been implemented by the state government and agencies including conducting joint operations for enforcement action against miners who create problems.
"The situation is getting better, there are only problems from illegal miners. We will go after them and confiscate their mining equipment.
"We have to do this because they cause problems, not giving a thought to others," he said when winding-up the debate at the state assembly sitting Friday.
Adnan said contractors and miners' associations should also work together to clean up the roads and lorries carrying bauxite to ensure that dirt that fall on the roads do not pollute the environment and affect residents in the mining areas.
