Palanivel denies "no contest resolution" allegations
MIC president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel has brushed off allegations that branches will hold a meeting to pass a no contest resolution for the partys top posts.
Palanivel today denied that he had asked anyone to do such a thing, adding that if they did so, then it would be on their own accord.
"I did not ask them to do such a thing, if they do, then its their business. If anybody wants to challenge (me), then its up to them, he told a press conference after chairing the partys central working committee (CWC) meeting here today.
Asked if he was expecting people to challenge him for the top post, Palanivel replied: I am not thinking of that yet.
Recently, an online portal (FMT) reported that Palanivel, who is also the Selangor MIC chief, had directed all state office-bearers to pass the resolution, sensing that he would be challenged at the partys presidential election slated for later this year.
On party elections, Palanivel said elections at the branch level would take place in December or January followed by division level.
Other elections such as the division, state, presidential, and CWC meetings are also expected to be held next year.
"The presidential election will start between January and March next year and after that we will have elections for the deputy president, vice presidents, CWC members and delegates," he said, adding that MIC would also set up a committee for presidential elections in November or December.
