Led by former MIC strategic director A.K. Ramalingam, the group filed the suit through lawyer Datuk R. Ramanan at the Kuala Lumpur High Court, here, today.
They are seeking to remove Subramaniam as MIC President because they claimed he cheated his way to the top. They also said that the main reason of filling the suit is to seek justice.
Ramalingam said the civil suit also named Registrar of Society (RoS) director-general Mohammad Razin Abdullah as one of the defendants.
“The other defendants include S. Vigneswaran, Jaspal Singh, T. Mohan. A. Sakthivel, A. Vasanthi amd Akmal Yahya.
“The plaintifs are me, V. Ganesh, Henry Benedict, M. Sathiyamurthi, George Alexander, R. Prabu, R. Sithambaram Pillay and V. Rajoo,” said Ramalingam at a press conference outside the court complex.
The full statement of claim, however, was not made available to the media.

“The reason why I can’t elaborate on this matter is because we have to serve the defendants the sealed copy (of the statement of claim) soonest. It might be (coming) Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.“We will hold another press conference and make available this document to the media,” said Ramalingam.
On the other hand, Ramanan urged the Barisan Nasional (BN) to suspend Subramaniam’s minister post.
“Subramaniam’s game plan is not divide and rule, his game plan is divide and destroy. He is destroying the indian community. He is destroying unity.
“I am asking the BN leadership, after reading the statement of claim, that Datuk Seri Subramaniam be suspended as the Ministry of Health with immediate effect,” he said.
Meanwhile, hundreds of people claiming to be supporters of Palanivel, started arriving at the court as early as 7am.
They were seen loitering around the court complex, as they waited for Ramanan and Ramalingam to arrive.
A couple of travel buses were parked at the court’s parking area, taking up several parking spots at the already crowded parking area.
The crowd came from as far as Johor in their gesture of support to Palanivel.
