Pandikar Amin chides MP for delay in withdrawing criticism
PANDIKAR: A Member of Parliament should not raise matters that occurred yesterday for discussion today, because if this is allowed, then things that happened last year would also be raised today. - Filepic
Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia today chided a Member of Parliament for taking too long in withdrawing a criticism made during a Dewan Rakyat sitting.
The Dewan Rakyat Speaker said the Member of Parliament should have done so immediately if he had made any statement which should not have been made.
"What had happened yesterday had already passed.
"A Member of Parliament should not raise matters that occurred yesterday for discussion today, because if this is allowed, then things that happened last year would also be raised today," he said before the sitting continued with the motion of thanks on the Royal Address at the Dewan Rakyat.
He was referring to the move by Lim Lip Eng (DAP-Segambut) who had stood up to withdraw the inappropriate words used against Tan Sri Annuar Musa (BN-Ketereh) when interrupting Annuar's debate yesterday.
Lim had used the words 'pengecut' (coward) and 'pondan' (transvetite) on Annuar after the Ketereh MP prevented Lim Kit Siang (DAP-Gelang Patah) to intervene his debate on the motion of thanks for the Royal Address. -- Bernama
