Blogger Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, better known as Papa Gomo, has been released from police custody.
His lawyer, Ahmad Shuaib Ismail, who confirmed the matter said Papa Gomo was released on police bail.
Meanwhile, a police source also confirmed to Astro AWANI that he was released at 4.36pm today.
Papa Gomo was detained on Tuesday for allegedly publishing false and seditious information which led to the riot outside Low Yat Plaza at Bukit Bintang last Sunday.
To date, a total of 25 people, including Papa Gomo, have been arrested over the riot that saw five people injured including three journalists from Chinese media organisations.
The commotion involved several fist fights among groups of over 100 men. Motorcycle helmets and other items were also thrown between the clashing groups.
The situation calmed down after the police Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) arrived at the scene.
The violence over the weekend began after a 22-year-old youth was detained by the plaza management for allegedly trying to steal a smartphone.
The suspect Shahrul Anuar Abdul Aziz was later handed over to the police and his accomplice was believed to have instigated his friends to run riot.
He later pleaded not guilty to stealing smartphone at the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate Court, Jalan Duta and was released on a RM3,000 bail.
