'MySekolah', a mobile application, will be introduced soon to enable parents get current information on their children's activities in school.
Deputy Education Minister Datuk P. Kamalanathan said for the initial stage, the application would go on trial in three schools, namely Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Bandar Baru Sintok, Kedah; SK Datin Fatimah in Kuala Nerang, Kedah and SK Precint 14, Putrajaya.
According to him, the trial would run for three months to see its effectiveness and compatibility before its usage is widened to a lot more schools.
"The application, among others will record and display information on their children's attendance, their learning schedule, examination results and activities in school," he told a press conference today.
He had earlier witnessed the signing of Memorandum of Understanding between Celcom Axiata Berhad, Universiti Utara Malaysia and Orangetree Production Sdn Bhd, who are jointly developing the application.
The MoU was signed by Celcom Axiata Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer Datuk Seri Shazalli Ramly, UUM Vice Chancellor Prof Datuk Seri Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak and Orangetree Production Sdn Bhd CEO Datuk Seri Jaspal Singh Korotana.
Kamalanathan said the ministry welcomed such cooperation which was in line with the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2013-2025's seventh shift, to utilise ICT in improving the quality of learning in Malaysia and its ninth shift, to cooperate with parents, communities and the private sector widely.
