Parents play an important role in encouraging their children to excel in their studies, said Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman.

According to him the responsibility of educating children should not rest on teachers only as parents should also play their part.

"There should be cooperation between parents and teachers to ensure students succeed.

"Parents should be involved in school activities, especially in the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) to promote students' success and improve the school's academic performance," he said at a ceremony to present school aid at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tinusa Jaya near here, today.

A total of 270 Year 1 and 2 students received money and bags through a programme organised by Libaran UMNO Division Education Bureau.

At the event Musa also announced a RM50,000 contribution from Puncak Niaga executive chairman, Tan Sri Rozali Ismail who was also present at the ceremony.
