Indonesian military divers have successfully lifted the tail from the crashed AirAsia QZ8501 plane from Selat Karimata near here, Kompas.com reported.
AirAsia QZ8501 crashed in stormy weather, killing 162 passengers including crew on board,
The portal reported that the elite divers from the Navy's KRI Banda Aceh warship explained that the giant balloon has managed to lift the plane’s remains at approximately 11.50am (local time). Soon, a faint image of the plane's tail surfaced on the ocean's water.
Search efforts for the plane’s tail started on Thursday despite hindrances faced by the divers including weather, current and visibility.
The search for the plane’s tail has been a paramount factor in the SAR mission as it stores the black box which contains the flight data to be used to unravel the cause of the crash. PHOTO GALLERY: QZ8501: THE SEARCH CONTINUES
Sonar detector from Jadayat navigation vessel found that the black box had been disconnected from the plane’s tail and washed away from strong waves for 1.7 miles nautical.
