KUALA TERENGGANU: PAS has requested the government to immediately file an appeal against the decision of the Kuala Lumpur High Court which allowed Christians to use the word 'Allah' in their religious publications for educational purposes.
Its deputy president, Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, said his party respected the court's right to make decisions but needed to take into account the sensitivities of the Muslim community.
He said the issue had provoked various reactions among the Muslim community.
"For us, the law does not look at legal sentiments, emotions or sentiments. Therefore, we see the reaction among the Muslim community as very serious on this issue and that is why we ask the government to immediately appeal against the court's decision so that we can review the decision.
"We hope this does not have to be an issue that can provoke polemics of court rules. We respect (the decision) but we use the existing procedure fully," he said when asked to comment on the court's decision to allow the use of the word Allah among Christians, here today.
