PAS state assemblymen Saari Sungib and Hasnul Baharuddin will not be facing the party’s disciplinary board for publicly supporting PKR president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the candidate for Selangor Menteri Besar (MB).
PAS secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali said the Hulu Klang and Morib assemblymen had offered their explanation, which would then be forwarded to the committee for further action.
“According to the procedure, Saari and Hasnul must meet the secretary-general to explain what happened. The secretary-general’s office will then decide whether the case requires further investigation.”
“If it does, then the case will be brought forward to the disciplinary board. But if the secretary-general is satisfied with the explanation, the PAS central committee will look into the case instead,” Mustafa told Astro Awani today.
He said in both the cases, the secretary-general’s office decided that the matter will be handled by the PAS central committee.
“Saari and Hasnul gave good cooperation. The meetings were held separately for an hour each,” said Mustafa of the meeting held at PAS headquarters on Monday.
Hasnul and Saari, along with 15 assemblymen from DAP and 13 from PKR, endorsed Wan Azizah to replace Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as Selangor MB.
This was done before PAS made its official stand to back Azmin Ali as the new MB.
