KUALA NERUS:PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man says PAS will hold discussions on whether or not to be involved in the formation of a new state government in Perak.

"We (PAS) will discuss," he said briefly when asked about the party’s stance on the matter.

Tuan Ibrahim, who is also the Minister of Environment and Water was met by reporters after a working visit to survey the coastal erosion at Pantai Pengkalan Maras here today.

Earlier, PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan was reported to have said that the party would not participate in the formation of the new Perak state government, following Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu’s failure to gain the support of the majority of the assemblymen through a motion of confidence vote on Friday.

Meanwhile, Tuan Ibrahim said he was confident that UMNO would remain steadfast to the Muafakat Nasional coalition formed by the two parties despite the situation in Perak.

"I heard the statement of UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, and as far as possible, he said he will take care of and defend Muafakat Nasional," he said when asked about media reports claiming that UMNO did not rule out the possibility of collaborating with Pakatan Harapan (PH) including DAP, to form a new state government in Perak.

Ahmad Zahid was reported to have made the suggestion following the possibility that PAS and Bersatu would not support the formation of a new government in the state.
