Pas fields Raja Bahrin to contest in Kuala Terengganu

Renowned architect, Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad was officially announced as a candidate for Pas who will contest on the party ticket at the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary seat in the 13th General Election (GE-13).

Kuala Terengganu parliamentary seat previously held by Terengganu Pas Commissioner, Wahid Endut who is also a former Wakaf Mempelam state assembly member. Wahid said to have decided not to contest in GE-13 for health reasons.

The announcement was made by the President of Pas, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang in a press conference at the Pas headquarters, here today.

At the press conference, Abdul Hadi announced former Crime Investigation Department Director Datuk Fauzi Shaari will be contesting in Larut and singer Wan Aishah Wan Ariffin or Aishah in Jempol.

Abdul Hadi also announced Pas Vice President, Datuk Husam Musa will try his luck for the Putrajaya parliamentary seat.

Another Pas Vice President, Salahudin Ayub will contest in Parliament Pulai.

While Abdul Hadi and another vice president of PAS, Datuk Mahfuz Omar will defend their seats in Marang and Pokok Sena.

Meanwhile, Husam in a short speech said that he accepted the nomination.

"A lot of people advised me not to compete in Putrajaya but I accept this nomination despite the great risks, "he said.

In the last general election, Barisan Nasional's Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Yaakob defeated Pas Federal Territory Commissioner Mohamad Noor Mohamad with a majority of 2,734 votes.

- Salahudin Ayub (Naib Presiden) - Pulai

- Datuk Husam Musa (Naib Presiden) - Putrajaya

- Datuk Mahfuz Omar (Naib Presiden) - Pokok Sena

- Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad - Kuala Terengganu

- Datuk Fauzi Shaari - Larut

- Wan Aishah Wan Arifin - Jempol
