Patents for 'belacan' and clogs

'Belacan' (shrimp paste) and clogs should be patented as items of valuable national heritage, Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Minister Datuk Hasan Malek proposed today.

The Baba Nyonya kebaya could also be included in the list as it had great potential he added.

The rickshaw has been patented as Melaka's state heritage, he told reporters after opening the 'IP Mobile II' at the Intellectual Property Corporation head office here.

"IP Mobile II" is the second edition vehicle equipped with internet facilities and intellectual property exhibits which will travel around to educate the public on the importance of protecting intellectual property rights.
