KUALA LUMPUR: The unification and cooperation of UMNO with PAS has been described as the most beautiful dream come true.
Therefore, UMNO Youth Chief, Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, has called for the bond to be maintained and never let any party sever it.
"This is something that has been craved for in decades. Hold strongly to this Muafakat Nasional (MN).
“Don’t let it untangle or be threatened by a third party because there is no certainty that an opportunity like this will reappear in the future.
"UMNO Youth's call for the leadership, conspire with wisdom, negotiate without any tricks. There is no tangle that cannot be resolved.
"The important thing is that there is sincerity and honesty in friendship or agreement," he said when delivering the opening speech of the UMNO Youth Assembly in conjunction with the 2020 UMNO General Assembly (PAU2020), which began today.
Refelcting on the story of the struggle of The Prophet's companion, Ali Abi Talib, in the battle of Siffin, said Asyraf, that is the current political reality that is witnessing division due to self-interest.
“Nowadays, we see the emergence of many interested characters like this.
"UMNO still has dignity and self-esteem. Don't poke a wasp's nest because its sting is still poisonous.
"UMNO Youth strongly urges the party leadership not to give face, not to give them a place in the next election and reject these hypocritical characters," he said.
Quoting the speech of UMNO Deputy President, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan earlier, Asyraf also advised that every member should know to distinguish between the party's real friends and enemies.
"UMNO has never cheated on friends. We hold dearly to promises and joint resolutions even in the Muafakat Nasional, including we have never agreed to join or register the Perikatan Nasional.
"We agreed to form the government but do not agree to register PN. But it was still done quietly," he said.
