Pay review for civil servants if commission has no input
The pay rise review for civil servants who have reached their maximum salary scale will only be conducted if the Special Commission on civil service transformation does not make any suggestions, said Chief Secretary to the Government, Datuk Seri Dr Ali Hamsa.
The Special Commission has had discussions with the Public Service Department and the results will be presented in December, he added.
"We'll see if the Commission has any new ideas. If there's nothing new then we'll start the study in December itself," he told reporters after opening the 29th national level civil service Innovative and Creative Group, at the Awana Porto Malai Resort, here yesterday evening.
Ali recently announced that the salary increment review of between two and five per cent would only involve civil servants reaching their maximum pay and within this category only those who exceeded 80 per cent performance marks would be eligible. He said the study would take into consideration the total number of civil servants involved, financial implications for the government and to be fair to those who have not been given a raise or promotion after several years of being in the maximum bracket.
