PdPR: MOSTI views seriously grievances of lack of mobile devices

KUALA LUMPUR:The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) views seriously the grievances of various parties, especially parents, on the lack of mobile devices for Home Teaching and Learning (PdPR).

Its Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin, said MOSTI will try to help overcome the problem as soon as possible.

"We are aware of many grievances regarding technology equipment for children who go to school without tablets and laptops.

"We take this matter seriously and are working to help students gain access.

"It will cause big problems if there is no access to either the appliance or the connectivity," he said when addressing the MyHackathon 2020 Finale programme held online here, on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Khairy said the COVID-19 pandemic has forced a re-examination of public operations and delivery to those in need so that they could be implemented immediately and more efficiently.

He said the most relevant and effective approach to ensure that this can be achieved is through the use of technology and the application of digitization in the civil service.

This includes the implementation of new government initiatives under the Prihatin Rakyat Economic Stimulus Package (PRIHATIN) and Budget 2020 as well as on-ground efforts to prevent the spread of the epidemic.

"The ministry sees that the most relevant and effective approach to ensure this can be achieved is through the use of technology and the application of digitization in the civil service," he said.
