PDRM claims no GOF personnel are involved with Daish

Preventive measures being taken to curb the spread of Daish's ideology - PDRM
None of the officers and members of the General Operations Force (GOF) in the country have been found to be involved with the Daish militant group.
Internal Security and Public Order Department director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sabtu Osman said, however, the department would continue monitoring to ensure militant ideologies did not spread among its personnel.
"I can confirm that so far there are none. But we always take preventive measures to curb the spread of the Daish militant ideology.
"In addition, we also call in religious speakers and special forces, including from the Special Branch to explain about the atrocities (of Daish) and the action which will be taken (against them) if they are to join the group," he said.
Muhammad Sabtu was speaking to reporters after his working visit to the Northern Brigade GOF camp in Ulu Kinta here, today.
In another development, Muhammad Sabtu said there were about 200 vacancies in the GOF, and the department hoped that the Orang Asli would take advantage of this opportunity.
"We are focusing on the recruitment of Orang Asli in the Third and 18th Battalions.
"As of now, there are about 1,000 Orang Asli personnel in GOF battalions nationwide," he said.
