Penang escaped convicts remanded for seven days
Three convicts, who were recaptured after escaping from the police on Monday would be remanded for seven days.
The order was issued by Magistrate Sarah Abdul Rahim after investigating officer ASP Md Zailani Md Zain submitted the application.
The three suspects, Mohamad Farid Akhtar, 24, Mohd Shahrimi Mohd Noor, 28, and Mohamad Khairulnizam Abdul Rani, 26, were recaptured six days after police had launched a manhunt for seven convicts who escaped while being transported from the Penang Prison to the Butterworth court at about 9am on Monday.
Mohamad Farid, was caught when buying food at a food stall in Kampung Petani, Kubang Seman at 9pm while Mohd Shahrimi Mohd Noor, 28, gave himself up at the Penanti market at 10pm yesterday.
Mohamad Khairulnizam was detained at an internet cafe in Berapit, Bukit Mertajam near here early today.
Of the seven who escaped, police shot dead two fugitives during a shootout while trying to escape while two more are still on the run, namely Hamzani Harun, 37 and Hisham Abdul Rahman, 39.
