Penang to explore Seberang Perai's uniqueness to boost tourism - Exco

GEORGE TOWN:Penang needs to explore more unique tourism products especially in Seberang Perai in order to position the state competitively for domestic tourism, said state Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin.

He said the products including Penang Frog Hill and Air Hitam Dalam Educational Forest in Tasek Gelugor are lesser known but with potential to attract visitors to the district.

“The promotion of different tourism products will ensure that the economic benefits are distributed across various districts and community in Penang especially in Seberang Perai.

“With domestic tourism expected as the main economic generator for tourism industry for the next six months to a year, ecotourism would be an important segment for domestic tourism as it varies depending on topography and environment,” he said in a statement here, yesterday.

“I also believe that to push for Penang tourism, we need unique products that can only be found here.

“This way, we can ensure that tourists will return as Penang is the only state with these attractions and we need to keep promoting different products,” he said.

He also said that the Air Hitam Dalam Educational Forest is a family-friendly destination. It is also a place to go to for nature enthusiast and birdwatchers with one of the highlights is a suspension bridge for thrill-seekers.
