Penang Matriculation student dies after being electrocuted

A female student from Penang Matriculation College was found dead in her dorm last night.

Police believe the victim, Siti Manisya Amer Prem Kumar, 19, died after being electrocuted.

The science stream student was found lying unconscious by her friend at about 8.15pm.

The victim’s friend later reported the incident to the college management.

Siti Manisya was rushed to the Kepala Batas Hospital (HKB) for treatment but was pronounced dead by a doctor.

Meanwhile, the victim's mother, Norsiah Shaari, 53, said her family had just met with Siti Manisya two hours before they heard the news.

“Around 7pm, she invited us for a dinner and said she will treat us. She was cheerful, I was so happy when she said she would come home in two days' time. I accept her loss,” said Norsiah at the hospital last night.

Siti Manisya's remains will be buried at the Masjid Hasim Yahya cemetery after Zohor prayers today.
