The Penang police have confirmed receiving information about a threat against South Korean singer Park Jae Sang or Psy's security upon his arrival in the state on Monday.
State police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi said, police acted on the information by providing full protection for Psy, including during his performance at Han Chiang College where the 1Malaysia Chinese New Year Open House was held.
"On Feb 12, at 2am, the police quietly arranged for Psy's departure without the knowledge of the public," he said in a short-messaging service here today.
Abdul Rahim was commenting on a statement by Penang Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Teng Chang Yeow that the 'Oppa Gangnam Style' singer did not join Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and other BN leaders during the 'yee sang' because of a threat against his security.
