Pengkalan Kubor by-election: It's a three-corner fight

It will be a three- corner fight for the Pengkalan Kubor N01 by-election.
It will be a three- corner fight for the Pengkalan Kubor N01 by-election, announced the Election Commission returning officer Mohd Sobri Ramli.
Independent candidate Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary, 48, will join the race with Barisan Nasional's Mat Razi Mat Ail, 49, and PAS's candidate Wan Rosdi Wan Ibrahim, 57.
Mat Razi was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Kelantan BN chief Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed and MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Liow Tiong Lai to the nomination centre.
Meanwhile, Wan Rosdi was accompanied by PAS’s deputy president Mohamad Sabu, Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and PKR’s vice-president Tian Chua.
The EC had set polling date for Sept 25.
The atmosphere at the nomination centre for the Pengakalan Kubor by-election appeared calm and controlled with the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) members on standby on both sides of the road leading towards the centre.
The Pengkalan Kubor by-election is held following the death of BN’s Datuk Noor Zahidi Omar on Aug 20.
The three-term assemblyman retained the seat in the general election last year by beating PKR’s Shaharun Ibrahim and independent candidate, Izat Bukhary, by a majority of 1,736 votes.
