KHAIRY JAMALUDDIN: The people's attitude and mentality are major challenges towards achieving National Transformation 2050 (TN50). -Bernama
The people's attitude and mentality are major challenges towards achieving National Transformation 2050 (TN50), says Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
He said they could not be changed in the blink of an eye because they were subjected to the individual.
"My greatest fear about TN50...not quantitative challenges (such as) education...because these are things that we can invest (in) today.
"The greatest fear that I have is whether or not, we can change our attitude and behaviour, this is the biggest challenge that we face," he added.
He said this in his closing speech at the National Aspiration and Leadership Conference (NALS 2017) at the Putra World Trade Centre here today.
More than 2,000 participants from among local and international students attended the annual event which entered its fifth edition.
TN50, which was mooted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, is a futuristic policy to map the direction of the nation in the next 30 years after 2020.
Khairy said issues on the success of TN50 could only be answered if negative mentality and attitude were replaced with a first class mentality to spur the nation towards a developed nation status.
"So, whether or not we can become first world facility and first world mentality, that will be a big question for TN50," he noted.
On NALS 2017, Khairy regarded the conference as the best two-way interaction platform to explain the government's agenda.
Khairy, who lauded the views and suggestions of the young generation urged all quarters not to ridicule the capacity of the national asset generation in furnishing input to the government. -- BERNAMA
