Perak MB wants full report from MAHB on work carried out at LTS

The Perak state government has yet to receive a full report on the latest improvements carried out to overcome a sinkhole at the Sultan Azlan Shah Airport (LTSAS) which was probably caused by soil erosion, last week.

Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir hoped the Malaysian Airports Holding Berhad (MAHB) would soon provide a full report on the work done.

"We are aware of the upgrade work carried out by MAHB following the discovery of a sinkhole. However, until now, even with the opening of the runway for domestic flights, MAHB has yet to submit the requested report," he told reporters after officiating the Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Association (PVATM) Annual Delegates Conference, at the Gopeng Rural Transformation Centre here Saturday.

On May 4, LTSAS' operations were temporarily closed from 6.40pm to 4pm the following day after a sinkhole was discovered on its runway.

In MAHB's Twitter account last week, they said the problem was identified during a routine check on the airport's runway.

In another development, Zambry said the state government would collaborate with Perak Transit to prepare a shuttle bus in LTSAS.

"The matter is now under the jurisdiction of Perak Health, Public Transport, Non-Muslim Affairs and National Integration Committee chairman Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon. We hope the negotiations will be fruitful and accommodate the needs of LTSAS users," he said.

Meanwhile, the Perak government became the first state administration to provide a RM100,000 annual grant for PVATM in appreciation of their sacrifices and contributions to the nation and state. - BERNAMA
