The Perak state government has no plans to demolish the Islamic Students Centre (PPI) here, as claimed in a Whatsapp message which had gone viral.
State secretary Datuk Seri Abdul Puhat Mat Nayan said the state government always supported religious schools in Perak.
"In fact, the state government is working on setting up religious schools or centres in every district," he told Bernama here today.
He was commenting on a viral message which alleged that the state government would demolish the PPI and replace it with a luxury apartment.
"That is false news... there is no effort to replace it with a condominium. The public should not believe unsubstantiated news," he said.
The PPI was established by the Perak Muslim Students Union in 1991, and one of its objectives was to spread knowledge and education among students as well as uphold Islam in the state.
