Perak State Youth Council's (MBN) deputy president, Aswannudin Hariffudin today lodged a police report after claiming he receiving death threats via the WhatsApp application on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters at the Sungai Senam police station here, Aswannudin said he lodged the report because he feared any untoward incidents to himself and his family members.
He claimed receiving the message at 12.19pm from unknown individuals who threatened to kill him.
He said the threat was probably due to Perak MBN's application to State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker, Datuk Seri SK Devamany, to take action against opposition assemblymen who dressed in black at the Perak Legislative Assembly's opening ceremony on March 31.
"This was due to the opposition's action of insulting and being rude to the Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah," he said.
Meanwhile, Martabat Jalinan Muhibbah Malaysia (MJMM) urged the police and the state government to take stern action against members of the Legislative Assembly (ADUN) who insulted the Perak Sultan.
Its president, Abdul Rani Kulup Abdullah, said it was to ensure that the group's rude and insolent culture did not spread to the entire country.
"This rude action from opposition assemblymen draws ire from the people, especially the Malays, because their Sultan has been insulted and this can disrupt public order and cause chaos," he told reporters after filing a report at the Kuala Kangsar Police Station today.
