Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) Sabah melanjutkan lagi pelaksanaan perintah berkurung di Zon Selamat Timur Sabah (Esszone) yang kini memasuki fasa ke-76 bermula pada hari ini hingga 14 November hadapan.
Pesuruhjaya Polis Sabah Datuk Ramli Din berkata, tindakan melanjutkan fasa perintah berkurung itu berikutan masih terdapat cubaan daripada kumpulan penculik untuk tebusan wang (KFR) dan militan Abu Sayyaf masih mencuba melakukan penculikan serta jenayah rentas sempadan di perairan negeri ini.
Beliau berkata, lanjutan perintah berkurung itu juga adalah kerana fasa sebelumnya tamat pada jam 6 petang semalam mengikut Seksyen 31(1) Akta Polis 1967 dan selain memastikan tahap keselamatan di perairan negeri ini terus berada dalam keadaan selamat daripada sebarang ancaman.
Jelas Ramli, antara keperluan untuk meneruskan perintah berkurung berkenaan ialah memastikan kawasan perairan berkenaan tidak dicerobohi pengganas yang masih cuba mengancam keselamatan penyelidik antarabangsa yang menjalankan penyelidikan mereka di pulau-pulau di Pantai Timur Sabah.
"Perintah berkurung yang kini memasuki fasa ke-76 akan dilanjutkan bermula hari ini sehingga 14 November ini selepas fasa sebelumnya tamat pada jam 6 petang semalam.
"Untuk makluman, kita masih menerima maklumat berhubung cubaan-cubaan daripada kumpulan KFR dan militan Abu Sayyaf yang masih mengintai peluang melakukan penculikan dan jenayah rentas sempadan terutamanya di kawasan Esszone," katanya dalam satu kenyataan media, di sini, semalam.
Perintah berkurung yang mula diperkenalkan pada 19 Julai 2014 itu meliputi jarak 3 batu nautika dari pantai dan membabitkan tujuh daerah di Esszone.
Mengulas lanjut, Ramli berkata, pihaknya sudah memberikan kuasa kepada semua Ketua Polis Daerah di kawasan Esszone bagi mengeluarkan permit kepada golongan nelayan di kawasan masing-masing sepanjang pelaksanaan perintah berkurung itu nanti.
"Perintah berkurung berkenaan akan dimulakan pada jam 6 petang hingga 6 pagi dengan membabitkan tujuh daerah termasuk Tawau, Kunak, Lahad Datu, Semporna, Beluran, Sandakan dan Kinabatangan.
"Saya juga memberi kuasa kepada semua Ketua Polis Daerah di kawasan Esszone untuk mengeluarkan permit terhadap semua pemohon yang memenuhi syarat bagi tujuan aktiviti perikanan atau laluan menerusi kawasan perintah berkurung yang mendesak," katanya.
