Perlis Legislative Assembly complex yet to obtain CCC

The complex at Persiaran Wawasan here houses the state administrative offices and menteri besar's office built on April 11, 2005 and has been operating for almost 10 years since it was completed in September 2007.

Perlis Public Infrastructure and Facilities Committee chairman Jafperi Othman said the failure to obtain the CCC was because the contractor appointed had failed to complete the documents to obtain the certification.

"All documents that must be furnished have been submitted to the Fire and Rescue Department on March 23 for further action," he said when replying to Chan Ming Kai (PKR-Indera Kayangan), who queried on the state owned premises that had yet to obtain CCC.

Jafperi said the process to acquire the CCC being handled by the Public Works Department was almost completed and the CCC was expected to be acquired soon.

"Even though the building has yet to obtain CCC, it is safe to be occupied as there are no elements found affecting its structure while the Fire and Rescue Department conducts monitoring from time to time," he said.

On a supplementary question from Chan, he said the project consultant and state government would be made responsible in the event of an accident.

"In the event of an untoward incident before CCC is obtained, in which insurance cannot be claimed, the project consultant and state government will be made responsible," he said.
