Perlis Mufti Datuk Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin called on Muslims in the country to assist their Rohingya brothers and sisters who were being oppressed and attacked by the Myanmar military.
He said Muslims should show the world that Islam loved peace.
"Show the spirit of brotherhood and our sympathy to our brothers and sisters who were killed mercilessly. Extend whatever help possible, Show the world that Muslims love peace," he said in his latest posting on his Facebook today.
He also expressed disappointment with the international community for not labelling the Myanmar military regime as a terrorist.

"The Myanmar regime and the extremist Buddhists act as if they are terrorists, and unfortunately, quarters that should stop the act are keeping mum about it," he said.
International media reported that the recent violence by the Myanmar security forces against the Rohingya Muslims in Rakhine was one of the worst in the history of the republic with nearly 90,000 of them having fled to Bangladesh and some were trapped in the mountains without any basic supplies.
Media reports said Myanmar troops launched operations on minority communities after a small group of Rohingya militants attacked the border control posts in August which saw 12 Myanmar security members killed. -- BERNAMA
