Personal items found in Madagascar not linked to MH370 - Liow
Among the personal items that US lawyer Blaine Gibson claimed he had found in Madagascar recently.
Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai has confirmed that personal items found in Madagascar recently, does not belong to MH370 passengers.
The Transport Minister said authorities confirmed that the belongings were not linked with the Boeing 777 that went missing since March 8, 2014.
"Authorities have confirmed that the personal items found does not belong to MH370. After analysing the belongings, it was found not linked to the passengers of the missing plane," he told reporters after opening the 9th Hui Zhou World Convention at Wisma Huazhong here, today.
Previously, US lawyer Blaine Gibson had claimed that he found some 20 items, including an Angry Birds bag and a Mensa laptop case, believed to belong to the passengers of the ill-fated flight.
He found them on the same 18km stretch of beach, where he had earlier found suspected aircraft parts of the missing plane.
Meanwhile, on the debris recently found in Tanzania, Liow said Tanzanian authorities were in the midst of identifying the debris.
"We have to first confirm if the debris belongs to a Boeing 777 airplane before we can determine if it's MH370. If yes, we will send a team to Tanzania to bring back samples for further identification," he added.
Flight Malaysia Airlines MH370 vanished while en route to Beijing, China from Kuala Lumpur with 239 people on board.
