Parti Keadilan Rakyat Deputy President, Azmin Ali characterised the team established by his opponent for the upcoming party election as a healthy collaboration.
He is however worried that such collaboration would create a negative impact to the party.
PKR Secretary-General, Datuk Saifuddin Nasution who is contesting against Azmin for the deputy president’s post has teamed up with vice-president candidate, Nurul Izzah Anwar and Rafizi Ramli with the slogan “Masa Depan Bersama” (Future Together).
According to Azmin, the upcoming election should not be used as an field for individual clashes but instead an an avenue to offer their services for the party’s future.
“I am worried should such groups be established, it will not be healthy for the party. I have stressed that my principle open and inclusive.
“I do not want this party to hold an unhealthy campaign. I am confident with the party member’s maturity in evaluating an individual’s capability not on the basis of teams but their capability in contributing towards the party, especially in its preparation towards the 14th General election,” said Azmin.
He was met after witnessing the nomination ceremony of the PKR Perak zone division on Saturday.
Apart from Azmin and Saifuddin, the post will also be contested by Selangor Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim and Hulu Selangor branch member, Datuk K. Ramachandran.
Meanwhile, 16 candidates will contest for the four Vice President post which includes Kuantan MP, Fuziah Salleh and current vice-president N. Surendran.
PKR election is scheduled to take place between April 25 and May 11.
Azmin had earlier stated that a party’s future will not be decided by a pact or ‘cartel’ rather it depends on the party members.
