The shortage of teachers in Chinese national-type primary schools (SJKC) is expected to be resolved with the placement of 867 trained teachers from the Teacher Education Institute (IPG).
Deputy Education Minister P.Kamalanathan said the teachers were currently undergoing a course in the optional Chinese Language subject at IPG.
He said 575 of them would be completing their studies at the end of this month.
"They will be placed in the SJKC next year. In this respect, circulars pertaining to teachers' placement will be taken into account," he told the Dewan Rakyat here today in response to a question from Wong Ling Biu (DAP-Sarikei).
Kamalanathan said the ministry had also set up a taskforce to resolve the teacher shortage in the SJKC.
He said the task force had identified 374 quotas for additional interim teachers that were approved on May 2.
"Besides that, IPG final year students had also taken up internship in all schools including SJKC since Sept 27 until the last day of school on Nov 19," he said.
