"Please return my husband's left hand," pleads widow

R. Bakiam, 63 wants her husband's left hand to be returned so that the family can give a proper burial for the deceased K. Lathmana, 66.

Lathmana was believed to have been brutally killed in Lenggong on May 5.

Bakiam said Lathmana's let hand was believed to have been hacked in front of an eatery at Kota Tampan and taken by two suspects.

She also urged the police to take action against the two men and help the family to find the victim's hand.

She said the suspects who were arrested before this, have been released. She claimed they are now harassing the family.

Bakiam who was accompanied by Buntong assemblyman A. Sivasubramaniam lodged a police report on the harassment yesterday.

"The police had promised to find the missing hand but until now they have not. The widow is also complaining that she is unable to sleep because she is unable to give a proper burial to her husband," Sivasubramaniam said.

Meanwhile, Perak CID chief Datuk Gan Tian Kee when contacted said the two suspects were charged at Kuala Kangsar Session Courts on May 19 under Section 326 of the Penal Code.

He said the police had also searched for the left hand of the victim which was dumped by the suspects into Sungai Ulu Kenas, Kuala Kangsar, using a dog unit.

However the heavy rains had dampened their efforts and the victim’s severed hand could not be found in the river.

He also said it is not true that police had conspired with the suspects, as alleged by the victim's family.
