Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today confirmed that there has been efforts to topple the Barisan Nasional government.

However, he said the details of such efforts cannot be revealed due to security reasons.

"The government has detected activities to topple the government without the democratic process," he said in a written reply to Nasrudin Hassan (PAS-Temerloh) at the Parliament today.

Ahmad Zahid who is also the Deputy Prime Minister said the police are still investigating and accumulating details.

On Aug 15, Ahmad Zahid when opening the UMNO Ampang delegates meeting had said that there was a movement to topple the government by an UMNO leader.

He said the plan was carried out to obtain statutory declarations from the opposition MPs and to attract BN MPs to support their move to topple the government via the 'back door'.
