EOSP (Expressway Operations Safety Passport) Agreement, signed between PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) and the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Malaysia (NIOSH) today, made the Company the first highway concessionaire to introduce Safety Passport in the country.
“Safety on the highway is the most important element in PLUS’ highway services and operations. The move is part of an initiative to improve and enhance the Occupational Safety and Health practices in the highway industry in general.
"Directly, it improves the safety levels of our highway users where accident risks can be minimised over time," PLUS Managing Director, Datuk Azman Ismail said.
All contractors, employees and individuals performing maintenance, construction and operation works on the highways are required to undergo NIOSH’s training to obtain these Safety Passports.
"This is beneficial to highway users in general as accident risks can be easily identified and the appropriate risk control measures can be taken by all trained contractors and individuals with Security Passports," Azman explained.
Reducing accident risk by individuals and those with Passport Safety is in line with PLUS' aim in making highway travels are safe, smooth and comfortable at all times. The Safety Passport Initiative also helps PLUS to inculcate safety culture on the highways.
According to Azman, all parties involved in the maintenance, construction and operations on the PLUS highway must undergo NIOSH’s Basic Safety Induction Course (EOSP) to obtain their Security Passports.
The Signing Ceremony was officiated by PLUS Managing Director Datuk Azman Ismail and NIOSH Executive Director Zahrim Osman at Persada PLUS today.
Also present during the ceremony were NIOSH Chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Lee Lam Thye and Malaysian Highway Authority, Operations Monitoring Chief Assistant Director, Harryati Rofik.
