KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim officially launched the Visit Malaysia 2026 logo today at the Hangar 6, MAB Engineering, Sepang, marking a bold step in Malaysia’s effort to attract 35.6 million tourists by 2026. The initiative is aimed to position the country as a unique and sustainable global travel destination.

In his address, Anwar highlighted Malaysia’s distinctive appeal, describing it as a harmonious blend of multiculturalism, environmental consciousness, and cultural heritage. He emphasized that the campaign aligns closely with the MADANI framework, reflecting the government’s vision for a more inclusive and sustainable future.

“This is not just another destination. Malaysia offers something truly unique—a rich, sustainable experience that reflects our multicultural charm and environmental awareness. It’s a place where diversity thrives, making it a destination like no other,” as he elaborated on Malaysia’s unique positioning, a soft breeze from within the venue gracefully caressed his hair, lending an effortlessly charm and imparting an air of grandeur to his words.

The Prime Minister also touched on the importance of promoting ecotourism, modern attractions, cultural heritage, and collaborative partnerships. He underscored the need for tourism efforts to align with national aspirations, noting that while it is an economic imperative, it also served as a showcase for Malaysia’s rich identity.

In a lighter moment, he jokingly remarked about the Tourism Ministry’s constant requests for funding. “Every time I see the Minister of Tourism, it’s about asking for more money. I told him (Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing) his job is to bring in revenue, not just to ask for it. And maybe to travel a bit less—but that’s just a joke. Don’t take it too seriously,” he said, drawing laughter from the audience.

The event also featured the debut of a theme song for Visit Malaysia 2026, a modern rendition of the traditional tune Kenek-Kenek Udang. The updated song retains its nostalgic rhythm while reflecting the campaign’s themes, capturing the spirit of Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage.
Adding to the celebratory atmosphere, a mascot of the Malayan sun bear made a surprise appearance as the Prime Minister officially launched the campaign. The adorable mascot symbolised Malaysia’s commitment to promoting its unique biodiversity and natural attractions, delighting the audience and adding a memorable touch to the occasion.

The Prime Minister praised various states, including Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Perak, Sarawak, and Sabah, for their contributions to promoting tourism. He highlighted the ongoing campaigns in Selangor and Kedah and urged other states to intensify their efforts to ensure the success of Visit Malaysia 2026.

As the event concluded, the Prime Minister reiterated the importance of collaboration and innovation in driving the tourism sector forward. With its blend of cultural richness, natural beauty, and sustainable practices, Malaysia is ready to welcome the world in 2026.
