Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today attended Friday prayers and special prayers for the safety of a missing Malaysian airliner and its passengers and crew, at the Sultan Abdul Samad Mosque here.
Several Cabinet ministers also attended the prayers.
The Friday prayers were led by Imam I Bambang Herman Baharudin Al Haj.
Ustaz Rahimi Abdul Aziz delivered a sermon which touched on the challenges Malaysians currently faced, such as the haze, dengue and the missing Malaysia Airlines (MAS) aircraft.
He advised the people to remain calm and not manipulate the situation by disseminating false news through the print and electronic media.
Imam II Mohd Aizuddin Mohd Salleh led the special prayers seeking to facilitate the search-and-rescue of the passengers and crew of the missing aircraft.
MAS Flight MH370 went missing last Saturday during a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. It was carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew.
A massive multinational search, involving more than 80 aircraft and ships, entered its seventh day Friday without any sign of the aircraft.
Mohd Aizuddin said the Sultan Abdul Samad Mosque had been conducting the special prayers since last Saturday.
