KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob today congratulated the national men's hockey team for advancing into the finals of the Asia Cup 2020 Championship in Jakarta, Indonesia.
In a post on his official Facebook page, Ismail Sabri said the national men's hockey squad is the country's hope to win the Super 4 final of the tournament tonight.
"We made it to the final after beating Japan 5-0 last night. Tonight we will meet South Korea, our team will surely show a high fighting spirit in facing our opponents.
"Let us pray for the success of our national hockey squad to end the 40-year title drought that we have been waiting for," he said adding that he hoped the Speedy Tigers squad will prove that Malaysia can shake Asia.
Yesterday, Malaysia thrashed Japan 5-0 in the Asia Cup Hockey tournament at the Gelora Bung Karno Hockey Stadium, to book a spot in the final.
