PM extends condolences to mud flood victims
NAJIB: I wish to express my condolences and sympathy over the loss of lives and property.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today conveyed his condolences to the victims of the flash flood and landslides which occurred in Bertam Valley yesterday.
He also called on all parties concerned to be more careful and alert of any eventuality due to the current rainy season.
"I wish to express my condolences and sympathy over the loss of lives and property in the flash flood and landslide incidents in Cameron Highlands yesterday," Najib said in his latest Facebook posting.
In the disaster, three people were confirmed dead. They were school student R.Punesh, 13, who drowned in Sungai Terlom, Kampung Raja, Indonesian vegetable farm worker known as Anipan, 48, who was found buried under a mound of earth in Bertam Valley, and Nepalese farm worker Md Yousuf Miya, 66, who was found buried in Jalan Ulu Merah, Ringlet.
The disaster which struck following heavy rain, has affected 203 residents from 47 families in Kampung Baru and Bertam Valley who were forced to be evacuated to the Ringlet community hall.
