Despite a busy working visit schedule in Kedah today, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak took the time to have breakfast with residents in Medan Selera, Alor Merah here, this morning.

He and wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor were greeted by thousands of people excited to meet the country's premier.

Also present were Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah and former menteri besar Tan Sri Osman Aroff.

They were served 'teh tarik', 'kopi O', tapioca with shredded coconut and 'roti Arab', among others.

Food outlet owner Rokshanah Ibrahim said she was thrilled with the presence and her first close encounter with the prime minister.

"We had been preparing for almost two weeks to welcome him, and I prepared more than 200 pieces of roti Arab for everyone here today," said the 53-year-old who has been operating at the premises for the past 13 years.

Najib is scheduled to attend a 1Malaysia Housing (PR1MA) programme with the community in Sungai Petani at 11am and later a meet and greet session at Padang Awam Kuala Ketil at 3.35pm.
