The weekly federal Cabinet meeting today is being held here at the Sarawak state government administrative headquarters.
The meeting is chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at the 22-storey Wisma Bapa Malaysia building, named after the country's first prime minister Tunku Abdul Rahman.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said yesterday, the change of venue was to show support to Sarawak, under the leadership of Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem.
Ahmad Zahid said it was suggested by Najib who felt that he needed to be around in the midst of the BN coalition's preparations for the state election on May 7.
"The Cabinet meeting tomorrow is to show our commitment and moral support to the state governments leadership. This is also for us to translate our support to Adenan and also his vision.
"With the support of the federal government under Najib, we are here to be with the people of Sarawak," said Zahid yesterday.
The last Cabinet meeting held outside Putrajaya was in Kuantan in 2011.
