Many children of Felda settlers have become successful entrepreneurs through the government's initiatives and support said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today.
Najib who heaped praise on children of Felda settlers who have become successful entrepreneurs in various fields said in his blog posting today that he was able to meet entrepreneurs involved in 'food truck' business at the Felda Settlers Carnival in Putrajaya yesterday, and spent some time with them before buying snacks for tea in the afternoon.
The Prime Minister said most of the entrepreneurs he had met were children of second and third generation Felda settlers who came from all over the country, including from Felda Semenchu, Johor; Felda Teloi Timur, Kedah and Negeri Sembilan.
"I am delighted to see children of Felda settlers involved in business and entrepreneurship. Some have become successful entrepreneurs through assistance, support and initiative of the government.
"I am sure the success of these children from Felda settlers has fulfilled my father's (Tun Abdul Razak Hussein) vision when he set up Felda," he said.
Malaysia's second Prime Minister, the late Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, founded FELDA on July 1, 1956 under the 1956 Land Development Act.
It was founded with several objectives, among them to channel financial aid to state governments, take over a number of state government projects, to systematically open new undeveloped lands and provide land ownership opportunities to Malaysians who were without any land.
Meanwhile, the three-day 2017 Felda Settlers carnival which started yesterday will end tomorrow.
