A non-governmental organisation today handed over a memorandum to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) urging the commission to immediately block access to the Malaysiakini website.
Mind and Social Awareness Association (PMSP) president Ramesh Rao claimed the news portal had been publishing inaccurate and defamatory news.
"In fact, Malaysiakini has never made any public apologies whenever they published inaccurate reports but just put the word 'ralat' (correction) at the bottom of the news," he told reporters after handing over the memorandum to MCMC Consumer Protection and Complaints Department head Ratnawaty Talib, here.
Ramesh said a copy of the memorandum would also be handed over to the office of the Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak, today.
