KUALA LUMPUR:Perikatan Nasional (PN) has expressed full support for the 2021 Budget presented by Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz last Friday.
PN, in a statement today, said the 2021 Budget is a continuation of the four stimulus and economic recovery packages announced by the PN government previously, worth an overall total of RM305 billion.
"The 2021 budget amounting to RM322.5 billion is the largest budget in the history of the country.
"It includes more than RM4.2 billion to reduce the burden of the people, more than RM4 billion to the frontline personnel in the fight against COVID-19 and RM3 billion to generate 500,000 jobs.
"All these are manifestations of the commitment and concern of the PN Government in ensuring the welfare and well-being of the people, regardless of race and religion, continue to be defended in facing the COVID-19 epidemic.
"In this regard, it is very appropriate for all parties to support the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's order to prioritise the people in this very challenging period for the country," the statement said.
It added that the PN government has never compromised in its efforts to protect the people, support businesses and strengthen the economy.
"In this regard, the joint efforts of each party is very important to maintain the momentum of economic recovery for the common good," the statement added.
The statement was signed by the president of the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) who is also the Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, the president of PAS Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, the president of Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan and the president of Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee.
