KUALA LUMPUR: The Perikatan Nasional Back Benchers Club (PNBBC) has expressed hope that newly-appointed Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob can assist Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in managing the country's administration and improving the delivery of government services.
Its chairman Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said this was necessary in order to restore the people's confidence and correct any negative perception, as well as ensure that efforts to revive the country's economy could continue to be implemented successfully.
"These include speeding up the vaccination process to achieve herd immunity as well as looking after the needs and welfare of the people in each parliamentary constituency by further increasing the distribution of food basket aid," he said in a statement here today.
In this regard, Shahidan said the government needs to continue to move forward to set aside all the rhetoric that can thwart the government's efforts.
Apart from expressing its support for the Perikatan Nasional (PN) governemnt, Shahidan said PNBBC also backs Muhyiddin's decision to appoint Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein of UMNO as a Senior Minister.
He also stressed that efforts to bring the country and the people out of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis was a common struggle.
