AMONG the headlines for Wednesday, 21 April, 2021, Malaysia’s education sector has seen 4,868 people infected with COVID-19 between Jan 1 and April 20. On the whole, 83 clusters were detected within the education sector, out of which 49 clusters are still active.
Health Minister Dr Adham Baba said 1,420 cases involved institutions operated by the Education Ministry, while 1,870 cases involved the higher education sector. Another 1,578 cases involved other educational institutes.
Also, India’s COVID-19 outbreak has set new records with 2,023 deaths in 24 hours, the highest single-day tally for the country so far, as hospitals run perilously low on oxygen amid rising demand for beds. Total deaths reached 182,553.
