AMONG the headlines, Malaysia registered another 16,117 new COVID-19 cases within the last 24-hours, an increase from yesterday’s 14,516 cases..
More than half of these new infections were logged in the Klang Valley.
A total of 6,616 reported in Selangor, with 2,457 in Kuala Lumpur and another 1,000 new COVID-19 cases recorded in Kedah.
Meanwhile, Johor had another 907 followed by Sabah (741), Negri Sembilan (669), Melaka (674), Penang (618), Kelantan (592), Perak (583).
There were 405 new infections recorded in Sarawak, while Pahang had 403 and Terengganu registered 317.
Cases in Putrajaya soared to 122, followed by Labuan (11) and Perlis (2).
Also, Tokyo hospitals urged to prepare more beds for coronavirus patients as it grapples with a rise in COVID-19 outbreak.
The Japanese capital is aiming to increase the number of beds from 5,967 to 6,406 by early next month, while hospitals are looking at pushing back planned surgery and scaling down other treatments.
