AMONG the headlines for Tuesday, August 2, 2022, Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin said there are presently “policy problems” with Indonesia and Bangladesh.
Zuraida said India and Pakistan have offered to send their citizens to work in Malaysian plantations industry, as the ministry attempts to battle the manpower shortage in the sector.
Also, tensions are high in China ahead of House of Representatives speaker Nancy Pelosi's expected visit to Taiwan on Tuesday, with several Chinese warplanes flying close to the median line of the sensitive Taiwan Strait.
Chinese warships and aircraft ‘squeezed’ the median line on Tuesday morning, an unusual move described by one Reuters source as "very provocative".
