AMONG the headlines for Thursday, August 26, 2021, Malaysia continues to break new records for its COVID-19 cases with 24,599 new cases detected as of noon today.
This surpasses the previous record of 22,948 cases in the country last week.
Three states, Selangor, Sabah and Johor, saw the new cases increase within 24 hours.
Selangor detected a total of 6,936 cases, Sabah with 3,487 cases and Johor with 2,785 cases respectively.
Also, just days after being sworn in following Andrew Cuomo’s resignation, New York Governor Kathy Hochul revealed that the state’s COVID-19 death toll includes 12,000 more lives lost to the disease than had previously been reported by its predecessor.
