AMONG the headlines for Wednesday, August 18, 2021, the Ministry of Health reported a record high 22,242 COVID-19 cases within the last 24 hours.
In a Twitter post, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 1,466,512.
Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 6,858.
This was followed by Sabah (2,413), Penang (1,867), Kedah (1,852), Kuala Lumpur (1,587), Johor (1,477), Sarawak (1,403), Kelantan (1,351), Perak (1,036), Pahang (675), Melaka (579), Negeri Sembilan (577), Terengganu (487), Perlis (50), Putrajaya (25), and Labuan (5).
Sarawak, Sabah, Penang and Pahang registered record-high cases.
Also, Facebook announces that it will ban content related to the Taliban on all its platforms.
Both the Taliban group and any content related to the movement will not be allowed on Facebook, Instagram, or WhatsApp.
The ban will ensure the removal of “accounts maintained by or on behalf of the Taliban and prohibit praise, support, and representation of them,” Adam Mosseri, the head of Facebook’s photo and video sharing app, Instagram said in an interview with Bloomsberg.
